To find the birth rate of the town, we can use the formula for population growth:

Population=Initial Population×(1+Growth Rate)Number of Years

Given:

  • Initial population (three years ago): 40,000
  • Present population: 46,305
  • Death rate: 4% per annum

Let's denote the birth rate as . Then, the growth rate would be the birth rate minus the death rate:

Growth Rate=Birth RateDeath Rate

0.04=0.04

=0.08

Now, we can use this birth rate to find the present population from the initial population:

46,305=40,000×(1+0.08)3

46,30540,000=(1.08)3

1.157625=1.259712

1.1576251/3=1.087775

So, =0.087775, which is 9%. Therefore, the birth rate of the town is 9%.
